Home - About Us - Staff - Rob Bukowski
Associate PastorRob Bukowski has spent far too much time in his life seeking to cultivate the kind of existence that makes for a breathtaking biography on the staff page of a church website. As he passes by people, many can be heard whispering "Did you know he puts lime in his Diet Coke?" or "He was watching 'Chopped' on the Food Network before anyone else even knew it existed!" which is often followed by "I heard that about the first season of Survivor as well."
Though he has the body of (and has been mistaken by a four year old for) an offensive lineman he selflessly chose to forego any possible career (or participation) in athletic sports knowing that one day he would meet a woman who would rather watch Bears games with her husband than watch him play in the games himself. Their dreams would come true when he met his beautiful wife Tiffany at Bethel and they were married in January of 2004. The rest is NFL history.
He and Tiffany have three children: Addison was born in 2005 and is currently making the difficult transition from going crazy for Hannah Montana to going crazy for Justin Bieber; Benjamin was born in 2006 and is developing an esoteric stand up routine full of knock-knock jokes which are brilliantly much more like long complex narrations instead of actual humorous jokes; and Camden, born in 2008, who...well they call him the gorilla because he will try to tackle you if you're not paying attention. They bring him more joy and fulfillment in life than any earthly thing. (Slightly ahead of the creation and implementation of "Pizza Night at America"- a weekly foray to discover the best pizza that this nation has to offer. Note: try Pizza Luce in Minneapolis. You will be stunned to find out that the twin cities have one of the best pizzas in the contiguous 48.)
Upon graduation from Lane Technical High School in 1994, he went to Moody Bible Institute in downtown Chicago. In 1998 he received his B.A. in pastoral studies. In 2010 he received his MDIV from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. He attended Bethel in high school and began directing the junior high ministry in college. In 1999 he became the youth pastor. In 2006 he became the Associate Pastor at Bethel. In that role he works with college students, young adults, and young families. He teaches each week at the bethel pm gathering.
He is humbled by the amazing privilege it has been to serve God as a pastor over the years. He has felt the overwhelming, life-changing grace of God and knows the hope that this grace can bring to all people. He has seen amazing things, gotten incredible stories, and built enduring friendships over that time. He is driven by the belief that the truth of God allows people to find purpose and make sense of their lives. And because of that truth, the church should be the most relevant, alive, compassionate, and world changing organization on the planet.
